He built
Hell.

Everyone knows DOOM. Far fewer know that the man who designed most of its Hell also invented the sanity mechanic for tabletop roleplaying, co-designed Age of Empires, and named every demon you have ever run from.

Sandy Petersen. 38 DOOM maps. A hundred-plus games, by his own count. One of the maps is his own house.

What Sandy made

The parts of DOOM
that are his.

John Carmack wrote the engine. John Romero built the first episode. Sandy Petersen was handed everything after that, and the vocabulary the whole game speaks in.

The architecture
of Hell.

Every level below is credited to Sandy Petersen. They run in the order you played them: Phobos, then Deimos, then Hell, then Earth. Use the arrows, drag the map, or press ← and →.

Two carry an attribution dispute, and both say so on the card: he credits most of E3M5 to Tom Hall, and he denies working on MAP07 at all. They are here with the dispute attached rather than quietly dropped.

Exhibit A

Map 16 is
his actual house.

Most designers hide a joke in a level. Sandy Petersen hid his address in one, and his father's. Two of the buildings in MAP16: Suburbs are real: the south-centre building is his own house, and the northernmost is his dad's.

Then he filled both with demons and shipped them to millions of people. It is the most personal thing anyone smuggled into a game about shooting Hell in the face, and for thirty years most players walked straight through his living room without knowing.

Favorite Doom level? Doom 2, level 16. One building is my actual house plans. Another is my dad's. The more you know…

Career log

DOOM is
the middle of the story.

Sandy Petersen is one of a very small number of designers with landmark success in all three gaming spaces: video games, tabletop roleplaying, and tabletop strategy. Most people only know him for one of them.

In his own words

Interesting decisions
that matter.

$DOOM

Why $DOOM.

$DOOM is a community token on Solana. It exists because of the thing this whole page is about: DOOM was not built by one person, and the person who built most of its Hell spent thirty years being the answer to a trivia question instead of a household name.

In August 2026 Sandy Petersen publicly attached his name to it. He posted the contract address himself, and he has kept posting about it under his own long-standing account since.

$DOOM is having its ups and downs. I'm told this is normal for a new crypto. My feeling is that the game supporting it is good, and that our idea is sound, and that we will keep rising. Looking into ways to invest more into the payouts for players.
Sandy Petersen, 8 August 2026

We're reworking a new game. Nothing is playable yet. Updates land in the community, linked below.

Whatever ships, it will not contain the levels on this page. Sandy's maps are id Software and ZeniMax property and always will be. The place to play those is DOOM itself.

Contract address · Solana

READ THIS FIRST. $DOOM is a meme/community token. It is not an investment, not a security, and not financial advice. It is not issued by, affiliated with, or endorsed by id Software, ZeniMax, Microsoft, Bethesda, or Petersen Games, which has published nothing about it. Sandy Petersen’s public comments are quoted here as public comments and are not an endorsement of any purchase. There is no whitepaper, no audit, and no published tokenomics. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose everything you put in. Always verify the contract address yourself against the official sources linked above before you transact.

Token readout

    Check the address

Sandy’s son Arthur, who moderates the community, stopped counting copycat DOOM tokens after forty-five. pump.fun does not enforce unique names, so the ticker means nothing on its own. Only the mint address does.

Paste it into a Solana explorer and confirm it matches before you do anything. If a link, a DM, or a reply hands you a different address, it is not this token.
